Is the Morning After Pill the same as the Abortion Pill?

No. The Morning After Pill, also known as emergency contraception, is taken after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure to prevent pregnancy. It delays or inhibits ovulation, preventing fertilization of an egg, or preventing implantation of a fertilized egg into the uterus. It is effective if taken within a few days after intercourse but does not terminate an existing pregnancy.

The Abortion Pill, also known as medication abortion or medical abortion, is used to terminate an early pregnancy. It typically involves taking two medications, mifepristone and misoprostol, which are taken in sequence to induce cramps and expel the baby from the uterus. It is only effective for terminating pregnancies within the first trimester and should be administered under medical supervision.
